We are proud to share the meaningful side event we organized at the Council of Europe, titled “After the Disaster of the Century: Facts, Impacts, and the Role of Solidarity in Recovery.” This important gathering brought global attention to the devastating effects of the earthquake and amplified the urgent needs of the affected region before the international community.

Bridging Awareness Through Technology

At the event, our Digital Team Leader, Ayşenur Sarıer, delivered a powerful speech on the crucial role of technology and communication tools in disaster preparedness and post-disaster recovery. A standout moment was the presentation of a virtual reality experience developed by RealWorks, allowing European Parliamentarians to virtually visit the earthquake zone. This immersive tool brought them as close as possible to witnessing the destruction firsthand, transforming empathy into understanding and awareness into action.

Elevating Scientific and NGO Voices

Supported by the Turkish Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and RealWorks, the event featured leading voices from academia and civil society:

A Platform for International Dialogue

Moderated by Ahmet Yıldız, Chairman of the Turkish Delegation, the event fostered rich dialogue among international participants. Belgian Parliamentarian Simon Moutquin, Parliamentary Assembly reporter on natural disasters, shared reflections from his visit to the earthquake-affected area. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Emine Nur Özkan Günay, Turkish Parliamentarian, outlined the Republic of Turkey’s ongoing recovery work and plans for rebuilding.

A Continued Call for Global Solidarity

At RealWorks, we are deeply honored to have led this vital conversation on the global stage. Since the first days after the disaster, we have been dedicated to supporting the region and will continue to do so for as long as needed.

We urge all our stakeholders, partners, and the global community: do not forget the region. The path to recovery is long, and your continued support is essential. Together, we can help rebuild not just structures, but lives, hopes, and futures. There is still so much important work ahead — and we remain committed to walking that path with solidarity and purpose.
